Report

Bovey made the short journey to Teign Village on friday night and after a nervy first 15 minutes they settled and gained a thumping win that guaranteed them promotion back to division 5.

Manager Cooney rang the changes after the poor defensive display at Broadhempston, recalling himself, Jay Revell and Stuart Wills to the backline and Lewis Perring returned to the left side of midfield.

Bovey's influential midfielder tried his luck with 3 early long range efforts but keeper Holman was equal to them.

Village almost shocked Bovey on 15 minutes when a ball over the top sent Osmand racing away to square for his strike partner who, fortunately for Bovey was a yard offside as he fired into the net.

But once Bovey gained the lead there was no looking back for the visitors. The goal had a touch of route 1 about it as keeper Leach pumped a freekick into the Village half which Westalke nodded on and Perring kept his cool to beat Holman. Bovey added a 2nd when some fast pace passing involving Taylor,Perring and Westlake ended up setting up Ishmeal Isah to make it 2-0.

It was 3 when Westlake picked up Harper's through ball to neatly finish. Bovey midfielder Dan Taylor then missed a great chance to make it 4 when his penalty was brilliantly saved by Holman. The penalty awarded after Perring raced past Chegwin and was crudely fouled.

Bovey's Westlake missed a great chance from right in front of goal with only Holman to beat from 6 yards but he shot straight at the Village keeper.

The 2nd half saw a change with injured Harper replaced by Blackmore but the Bovey pressure didn't ease up.Isah grabbed his 2nd to make it 4-0. Bovey then had the luxury of taking off Gibbs and sending on Gimson. Isah missed an unbelievable chance for his hatrick when he somehow missed the ball right on the goalline! and when Isah had another chance a minute later he snapped his hamstring and was replaced by pacy youngster Cliff Walters. It was Walters who rather fortunately added a 5th when his deep right wing cross sailed in!

Lewis Perring added his 2nd by kneeing in from a couple yards after a Blackmore cross, and then Blackmore harshly had a goal ruled out for 'offiside' from a Walters cross. The flag going up on appeal while players walked back to take centre!

Mark Westlake placed a low effort beyond Holman for number 7 and this proved the keepers last act as he injured himself in the process. The deputy keeper was beaten only the once more, this when Walters finished from close range after a Perring low cross.

So Bovey have now sealed promotion with a game to spare and will look to put an even younger side out next weekend at Roselands on the 3g surface.
